With the rapid growth of the national economy, there generally exist disparities of the economic development for countries and areas. Imbalanced development between different regions has become one of the core issues that regional economics is researching. Imbalance development of regional economic do not only perform in three economic belts in China (the eastern, central and western) ,but also in the provinces, cities. Guangxi has made great progress in the economy in recent years as a less developed region in western China; meanwhile, regional disparities in economic development issue was worthy of concerning.Prefecture-level city as the most basic research unit, this paper introduces the measure commonly used in domestic and foreign scholars of regional economic differences and gives a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the regional economic differences in Guangxi. The results shows that changes from 2002 to 2009 in the spatial pattern of economic development of Guangxi is relatively stable, regional differences in economic development in recent 8 years, showing a consistent change in the basic "U" type trend line, the first narrow regional economic disparities enlarged after that. Research also found that in the south and centre areas with high levels of economic output is also relatively fast economic growth in Guangxi, while the west and the east is relatively slow economic growth.Based on the above empirical conclusion, the author further explores the cause of Guangxi regional economic development gap , and proposed the promotion and countermeasures of Guangxi regional development , including to address regional differences, to set regional economic development plan; to encourage the formation of special industries according to regional resources and location point of view; to adjust the industrial structure and promote regional industrial cluster, etc.
