This paper based on the large medical equipment manufacturer SSME inventory control study, analyze the inventory management problems, such as high inventory value, low inventory turns, low customer satisfaction. After review the previous study on inventory control home and abroad, explore the inventory control methods on large medical equipment manufacturers to improve inventory. The first step is to find effective material classification methods. Introduce demand frequency, supply risk and demand values as the key factor, after two-stage classification, all materials are divided into four categories. Study focuses on strategic materials and bottleneck materials. Inventory control policy is to study how to meet customer needs on time with the minimum inventory cost, so the second step is to define different order policy to different types of materials based on the material balance management strength and economic effects. Determine the safety stock quantity, maximum stock quantity, reorder point etc. Finally, if the forecast result is accurate, the planning information must be correct, so it is possible to obtain a more satisfactory result, which means forecast is necessary for inventory control. It is certificated that exponential smoothing appropriate is easy and effective. With the actual implementation of these measures, SSME improves the inventory turn over rate and increase the customer satisfaction. Further research directions are discussed in this paper. This paper shows an entire inventory control process in large medical equipment companies optimize the entire process, similar type of business enterprises to provide a solution to the problem of inventory control ideas and methods.
