Forecasting Based Order Management System For Shanghai Yungtay Elevator Equipment Co., Ltd.

As an international firm, Shanghai Yungtay Elevator Co. Ltd. (Shanghai Yungtay for short) is majored in the sale, design, manufacturing, installing and parking equipment of manufacturing engineering products, especially the elevators. Due to the intense market competition, Shanghai Yungtay has to cut down prices of elevators and shorten the delivery time, in order to solve the time constraint in product design, production and outsourcing. Due to the short delivery time, Shanghai Yungtay has inadequate production time, which makes delayed delivery and the customer order cannot be finished according to customer's requirements. In addition, the short delivery time makes the staffs of product planning and sale departments have to check and urge the order interactively, which increases the cost consequently.Toward this end, this paper first introduces the research background and relevant theories of order management system. Second, this paper analyzes thoroughly the problems faced by Shanghai Yungtay. Third, this paper proposes a forecasting based solution to order management system. The solution is based on the material classification according to two criteria. One is whether the lead time of materials is sufficient. The other criterion is whether the materials are generic or special. Finally, this paper conducts an empirical study to show the effectiveness and advantages of our forecasting based solution to order management system.
