The society nowadays as a pluralistic society is becoming increasingly competitive, and any enterprises are in the volatile situation. On one hand, the competitive environment gives enterprises more space to exist and develop, but on the other hand, enterprises would face various greater pressures. Any carelessness would put them at critical moment.The inevitability of volatile situation demands more and more of enterprise leaders. Transforming leadership was a leadership put forward by James M. Burns, the American political sociologist, on the basis of qualitative analysis of political leaders. This theory as a new tendency for modern leadership study draws wide attention of scholars and entrepreneurs. In the past, studies were carried out from the angle of the achievement of transforming leaders, but the transforming leadership under special situations has never been explored. Therefore the study of the function and effectiveness of transforming leadership is of realistic significance.Leaders should take different measures according to the various characteristics appearing at different stages. The study of comprehensive qualities and behavior traits shown by the transforming leader has found that the leadership has a unique function mechanism in facing enterprise's crisis. This paper discusses, from two aspects: personal leadership and group leadership, the effective influence factors and promoting ways of transforming leadership when enterprises face crisis. The research has found that in personal leadership, the personal influence, interpersonal communicating ability and decision-making ability of transforming leaders play an important role in dealing with enterprises'crisis, and that the using of encouragement strategy, the constructing of enterprise culture and the increasing of group cohesion of group leadership are effective ways during the crisis period. With macro explanation and micro study, this paper analyses through relevant cases that, in which aspect, the transforming leadership functions effectively. And on the basis of this, the paper further discusses the influence factors and promoting ways of transforming leadership.
