The Research On Software Metrics Management In Hunan Transfar Technology Co.,Ltd.

Since the middle of twentieth century, software industry has been started on develop, and quickly became one of the leading industries of human society at the 60 years and played an increasing important role in twenty-first century. Over the past thirty years, although more and more significant achievements in software engineering have been appeared, unfortunately, the"software crisis"is still unsolved thoroughly, so the questions in software development were also existence. These common questions consisted of the low productivity rate, delay schedule and high cost of maintenance, customer dissatisfaction, low quality and endless defects of software etc. Over half of software projects could be faced with delay, over cost or failure.The purpose of this study is based on the common measurement method, Goal-Question-Metric (GQM), which is applied to the software metrics field for the guiding to carry out software metrics management in software enterprises at their continual software process improvement. So this study is mainly to investigate the practice in software metrics management with one of Chinese middle-scale software enterprise as a research-object by analyzing of Chinese software industry and by the systematizing of software metrics theory. The thesis mainly consists of two parts: In the first part of which, on the base investigation and analysis of the capability of software process in this software enterprise, the key problems of software management have been found, and thus the quantitative indicators of software management for improving the capability of software process have been also achieved by the method of GQM. In the second part, on the basis of evaluation of the result after caring out software metrics management in this enterprise and the effect of software metrics management on the ability of improving software process, It is proofed that the efficiency of software development can be also increased when the software metrics management has been carry out in the software enterprises.The several questions for improving software metrics management have been found according to the practice results of software metrics management and its feature, and the several suggestions have been also commented to continual improving software process improvement. So this study suggests that software enterprises should adjust and improve the software metrics management with the changes of environment, and thus it can also improve the competitive ability of these software enterprises.
