Nowadays, the mobile communication develops very rapidly in China. The number of Chinese mobile users has increased over 60 million per year from 2001 to 2005. Though the increasing slowed down in 2005, the number of Chinese mobile users has increased 58.6 million from 2005 to 2006, and has totaled to 393.4 million. China keeps being the biggest market in the world. In addition, mobile data services keep on a fast development and will become an enormous potential market in the near future. 3G will be carried out soon. It will not only bring faster and wider networks, but also bring many problems about operating model.In the era of voice, the structure of mobile communication value chain is simple, and the relationships between those participants are simple too. However, in the era of data services, the structure of value chain is becoming more complex and the mode of marketing has changed greatly. At the same time, several new things came into being, such as application providers, binding marketing, and industrial cooperation, etc. Those changes not only change the structure of mobile communications market, but also lead to severe competition.How to keep up with those changes is a key issue for communication enterprises. How to create, demonstrate and popularize their new service models is a core competition for those telecommunication operators. So it is a key for them to understand the characteristics and rules of mobile communication industry, as well as to control competition environment and synergetic model of industrial cooperation.Based on this situation, this thesis analyzes the industry value chains of mobile communication in detail according to the theory of value chain, and brings forward the author's own views on strategies of mobile operators based on the analysis of the industry value chains in mobile communication.
