Studies On The Strategies For The Development Of Pharmaceutical Technology In China

The modern pharmaceutical industry is one of the most important industries of the high and new technologies. As the key role in the scientific and technological progress, the R&D of new drugs intensively reflects the achievements and breakthrough of the cutting edge of life science and biotechnologies, and becomes one of the strategic missions in the international competition in high technology and economy. It is the utmost goal for strengthening the R&D of new drugs to serve the national economic development and social stability.The thesis systematically analyzed the status quo and contemporary tendency of the international pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical sciences and technologies. The advantages (strength / opportunities) and disadvantages (weakness / threats) of the Chinese pharmaceutical industry were investigated with respect of the domestic and international backgrounds.Disadvantageous Factors: The integral innovation capabilities are still weak; The domestic pharmaceutical companies and industry are relatively small in size and poor for talents; The protection of intellectual property rights is under pressure; The deepening of reform meets with the shortage of R&D input and inefficiency of financial system.Advantageous Factors: The life science and biotechnology and the novel methodology of R&D have greatly progressed. The formulation and drug delivery techniques have made significant achievements. Technology, talents and industry cluster have accumulated certain advantages; the national disease spectrum is broader than those of other countries. The pharmaceutical regulations and laws and the national R&D policy facilitated the innovation.Based on the analysis, the author researched the national strategies for the development of pharmaceutical technology including the guidelines, strategic steps, the strategic goals and personal proposals, technically studied the means for the improvement of the R&D abilities, and put forward the strategic priorities in China's pharmaceutical technology development.In conclusion, the research has presented the individual viewpoints on the development strategies of Chinese pharmaceutical sciences and technologies.
