Study On Effects Of Institutional Change On Tourism Development

Tourism that is in the period of economic transition and sensitive to macro- environment is significantly influenced by institutional structure and industrial policy. Its rapid growth is clearly linked to institutional change since the launch of reform and opening up. Therefore, a perfect institution is the key to the sustainable development of tourism. According to the theory of new institutional economics, institution is an important inner variable of economic growth; however, the majority of the existing studies at home and abroad regard institution as the macro-environmental background and external variable that influences on tourism development. The studies from the perspective of endogenous institution are rare, which weaken effects of institutional change on tourism development.Under the guidance of the new institutional economics, focusing on the principal ideology institutional is the inner variable, the thesis constructs the framework in three layers, first, from the abstract to the concrete, second, from the macro to the micro, third, from the national to the regional. It analyzes effects of institutional change on tourism development, makes clear of the following aspects, such as effects of institutional change, the positive effects or the negative effects, concrete effects, different effects in different regions.This article consists of 6 chapters.Chapter 1, General Introduction. This chapter analyzes research background firstly, then retrospects and compares domestic and international related research, and points out the problems in the existing research and then brings forward the importance and necessity of studying the effects of institutional change on tourism development.Chapter 2, Basic Theory and Research Methodology. On the basis of interpretation of the basic theory of institutional change, the chapter puts forward research methods, constructs the framework and the main contents.Chapter 3, the Overall Effects. From the temporal aspect, tourism management system evolves with institutional environmental change, institutional change is an important factor to promote the rapid development of tourism industry in China. From the spatial aspect, on the law of the path dependence, institutional change is one of variables to form and expand regional tourism differences. Tourism development is possibly locked by the inefficient institution, institutional innovation unlock the inefficient institution and promote tourism industry to enter again a beneficial circle.
