While Ecotourism has significantly contributed to economic benefits for the whole society, it also has caused a series of negative impact to a tourism destination, including social, cultural and environmental influence when reviewing the over ten years' history of ecotourism development in China. The focuses of ecotourism development in China are nature reserves, which almost are ecologically fragile regions. It is especially important to carry through feasible management and regulate all the stakeholders' behavior in an ecotourism standard framework so as to carry out the idea of sustainable development in the ecotourism practice. Therefore, it is necessary to institute ecotourism standard in Chinese instance through studying and adopting the related ecotourism standards in the world, using other countries' theories and practices in ecotourism development and administration for reference. The thesis tries to carry out a detailed research on ecotourism guidelines and certification through reviewing and analyzing the international and foreign ecotourism standards in literature. Niaodao scenic spot of Qinghai Lake as a research case, the ecotourism concept model and some international and foreign ecotourism standards as reference, this thesis proposes to establish an ecotourism standard framework for Niaodao.
