| In previous years, power shortage lasted for a long time. It turned into the weak point of the economic development. While the position of the power shortage improves, the new problem comes out.The special session of the United Nations General Assembly (1997) asserted the energy sources and communication ministry are the core section to realize sustainable development. To realize sustainable development in power industry is the centre. At present, power enterprises are the biggest threaten. To realize its sustainable development, we have to let the development in economy, society and environment in harmony, and give attention to the short and long-term profit. At this stage, the government pays great attention to constructing economically society, and it puts forward the views of scientific development. That is the full development, harmonious development and the sustainable development. The"Energy sources, Electrical power, Sustainable development"forum of electrical power development of China convened in May 2005, and it emphasizes the harmonious development and the sustainable development in power industry. But some research indicates in the next 20 years or more, the structure of the energy sources with a coal base will not be changed.To face with the fierce marketing campaign, power enterprises should improve the managing ability. And under great tension of the environment, they should pay great attention to the efficiency of the using of energy sources; tighten technological transformation, save energy. All of the above is to realize the harmonized development among economy, social and environment etc, and to realize the sustainable development itself. But how to evaluate the level of the sustainable development in power enterprises and its performance and with what indicator system is an urgent problem.The sustainable development not only advises the economic effects, but also the economic, social and the environmental effects. And it presents the multi-objective identity. So we study the sustainable development in power enterprises as one case of the multi-objective method. And we compare some normal methods; improve the advantage of the selected model, and we make the empirical analysis on it to validate the rationality and the validity of the method.
