With the vigorous development of container transport, larger container ships and mergers between shipping companies, ports in the Shandong Peninsula began to compete each other in order to gain more containers competition, this competition is specifically reflected in the price and improve service functions. However, because of the characteristics of the container port business and the environment of marine transport, this competition must be orderly competition and the general trend in the division of labor and cooperation. In the limited regional economy of Shandong Peninsula, the total container cargoes have been basically decided from regional economic development. The same time, container port business themselves have the characteristics of serious market entry and exit barriers, the enormous amount of short or long-term costs, and the services are easy to be substituted. Therefore, it is neither possible nor necessary that every container port in the region provide the various services. Professional division and complement each other is the only way of Container Ports. They can develop and performance their respective characteristics in the professional division. Even so, the ports in the region had to cope with serious challenges from neighboring ports.The purpose of this thesis is to introduce cooperation and competition theory on container ports in Shandong Peninsula, reduce vicious competition triggered by overlapping hinterland, ensure the overall efficiency and sustainable development of the container ports in the region.The research method include proper investigations on the basis of data collection and reading literature; careful analysis of the Shandong Peninsula container ports status, container ports in the region come to the need for cooperation; use quantitative analysis of Game theory proving that cooperation can bring more benefit to the ports than full...
