Along with international economic developing, each country, according to its geographic and economic location, formulates a series of politicies on international trade facing to 21^st century, especially on container trade. As the result of Pressing on with extending port size, the competition among the ports is better stinging. Now the port authorities attach great importance to the serious results leaded by out-of-order competition, such as the waste of country's resource, and low profit of ports. They are seeking the cooperation with other ports round, and appealing setting up the healthy orderly environment of competition.This thesis emphasizes the whole Yangtse Delta as the object of research area. The Yangtse Delta is becoming one of the most energetic and prosperous economical areas in the country and all over the world. The close economic and geographic relationship with Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shanghai having formed historically helps to building Shanghai international Shipping Center. If Shanghai port want to be the international container hinge port in the Northeast Asia, and Yangtse coastal ports group want to be the global hinge coastal ports group, we must refuse blind competition, fix the function of each port according its actual condition, and realize the cooperation and competition among the ports.This thesis discusses mainly the cooperation and competition among coastal container ports group in Yangtse Delta. It comes out the theory system of cooperation and competition in port field trough analysising the overseas successful cases, and combining general cooperation and competition theory, then it presents the corresponded proposal aiming at how to cooperate and compete among coastal container ports group in Yangtse Delta, set up the cooperation and competition model system of coastal container ports group inYangtse Delta.
