The Study On Ecological Security Evaluation Of Regional Farmland Consolidation

Land consolidation is an important action for China, both to increase the efficiency of land use and to ensure the security of the food and environment, especially on the background of land resources of China becoming more scare during the past decades. Projects on land consolidation implemented in our country means farmland consolidation.On one hand, as a major measure to make land resources intensively utilized and to achieve dynamic equilibrium of the total cultivated land, farmland consolidation has acquired great effectiveness. On the other hand, considering it from the direction of ecology, farmland consolidation disturbs the ecological system intensely. It has been shown that unsuitable farmland consolidation engineering has negative influences on soil characteristics, biological diversity and stability of ecological system. It not only causes the decline of available phosphorus, available potassium and active organic matter in soil, the decrease in soil microbes, and environmental degradation of biological habitat, but also causes the decline of buffer capacity, compensation ability and resistance disaster ability of agricultural ecological system. Finally it does cause the environmental degradation of the whole farmland ecological system. At present, our farmland consolidation is during the primary period. The main intention of consolidation in the mass of areas is increasing the quantity of cultivated land to make up for the part engaged by construction. It has not gained access to the further period during which the main goal is improving the qualities of eco-environment and farmland.In this paper, concepts and theories of farmland consolidation and ecological security are studied, upon which the relationship of farmland consolidation and ecological security is analyze, and it summarizes the potential impacts, which may be positive or negative, of the activities of farmland consolidation on farmland ecological environment from the ways of water resource, vegetation, soil, landscape components and the circumstance of society and economy. It offers theoretical basis for evaluating the ecological security of farmland consolidation and for directing the projects of farmland consolidation more scientific and normal.
