As the rapid development of the tourism in china, tourism occupies a large amount of national economy, the need for the specialists in tourism and management becomes more and more urgent in the market, and the new demands have been presented for the quality of the specialists. In order to adapt to the continuous changes of the social economic states, and cultivate the tourism majors who are in accordance with the needs of the market, we need reform and study the original curriculum of the tourism major, which is an essential demands of the time. Shaoguan (a city in Guangdong province) is a national excellent tourism city, in recent years the tourism in Shaoguan developed rapidly and the needs for the specialists majoring in tourism and service become very urgent. To promote the local social and economic development, and train more and more tourism and management specialists, who will better suit to the demands of the time and local characteristics, the teachers in tourism subject of Shaoguan secondary vocational School conducted a reformation and practice to the curriculum of the tourism major. this paper is based on this study.By adopting the methods of interviewing, questionnaire, and consulting the referent materials and data, we try to investigate the practical state of the curricula of the school's tourism major, and then according to the demands for the tourism majors of the secondary vocational school of the nation, by referring to the practice of the curriculum of the tourism major both in home and abroad, we found out the existing problems, analyzed the causes and determined the countermeasures, we formed the general approach to the refinement of the curriculum of the tourism major in Shaoguan secondary vocational School, and provided a system of curricula which is employment-oriented and combines modular subjects together, this system is applied to the teaching practice in all grades and revised in time according to the feedback from the practice.We adjusted the subjects of the tourism major in every grade in our school by the adoption of this system of curricula. After three years' teaching practice, the evaluation of the graduates' integrated quality by the employers has been greatly increased, the education purpose of the tourism major in our school becomes more and more explicit, the teachers and students have a good assessment, which proves this program is feasible and practical.
