Petroleum, blood of various industries, is one of the pillars of the development of national economy. Thus, the sustainable development of petroleum enterprises is of vital importance to our country's energy security and social stability, as well as to the social and economic sustainable development. With oil-gas mining industry as their key industry and commerce-based management as their basic feature, China's oilfield enterprises are the regional social and economic organizations characterized by their exercise of the functions of quasi-regional governments. Despite the trend that the oilfield enterprises will gradually occupy the leading position in the deepening reform, they will remain the nature as regional social and economic organizations in a relatively long period due to various reasons. According to their nature, the sustainable development of oilfield enterprises not only has the connotations of the sustainable development of enterprises, but also those of the society and economy in the mining areas.
