In today's development of regional economic integration, regional competitive strength has become an important yardstick to measure the level of regional economic development. This study is focused on quantitative evaluation of the competitive, and analysis problems in a regional development.Firstly, the paper analysis the two traditional regional competitiveness evaluation models: IMD and Porter model, and points out their deficiencies. On this basis, an improved regional competitiveness evaluation model has been raised. The thesis thinks that regional competitiveness should be divided into two levels: Direct Competitiveness and Indirect Competitiveness. The Indirect Competitiveness is the supporting strength of the other one. The Direct Competitiveness is formed by industrial competitiveness, enterprise's competitiveness, and international competitiveness, which reflect the level of the regional competitiveness directly; Indirect Competitiveness is made up of economic comprehensive strength, environment and infrastructure, manpower capital, scientific and technological competitiveness, which as outside indirect factor reflect the regional competitiveness through the direct competitiveness. Seven major factors of Direct Competitiveness and Indirect Competitiveness complement with each other, forming organic integrity of regional competitiveness evaluation model together.The paper build competitiveness evaluation model based on catastrophe series approach, and designs an index system of regional competitiveness evaluation. In the end, this paper conducts an empirical analysis on all regions of the country and Beijing's regional competition.
