With the rapid development of the global economy and the diversity of the customer requirements, distribution becomes more and more important than manufacturing in the supply chain management. Customers and manufacturers are connected by the distribution network. A well designed distribution network is beneficial to provide high level service to customers with low distribution cost. So it is necessary to study the distribution network design.Two-level distribution network is mainly studied in this paper. The study is focus on the distribution network design with an example analysis.Firstly, this paper analyzes the relations between the structure and cost of the distribution network. After analyzing and comparing the performances of the different two-level distribution networks, a two-level distribution network is selected for the IT distribution.Secondly, the prophase design for the two-level distribution network is studied. A multi-year two-level distribution network model is presented. Genetic algorithm and branch and brand algorithm are used to solve the model, and then the position and service scope of the distribution center can be determined.Lastly, the evaluation of the two-level distribution network is studied. The Arena simulation software is used to establishing the simulation model of the two-level distribution network. The optimal order strategy of the distribution center can be determined by using the simulation model.
