Studies On Coordinated Development Between Regional Economy System And Transportation System

Transportation and economy which influence and connect each other should be developed in harmony. But they are always uncoordinated in reality, which influence the healthy development of a certain region. The uncoordinated phenomenon between transportation and economy is exceeding or lagging behind the economy, which is a disadvantage to the development of economy and difficult to achieve the sustainable development. On 2006's China Transportation Conference, the thought of enhancing the coordinated development of transportation was put forward definitely. The conference also pointed out that the coordinated development of transportation was an important condition of the coordinated development of a region. So studying the coordinated development between transportation and regional economy becomes more and more important. By using the system theory and the results of present study on coordinated development between economy system and transportation system, this research discusses the weaknesses of the methods on the coordinated development between economy and transportation nowadays. The coordinated development between economy system and transportation system are studied by the methods of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, which bases on the system theory, especially the coordination theory.First, the regional economy system and transportation system are analyzed by the method of qualitative analysis. Then the relations between transportation and regional economy, and the development strategy of our country's transportation are introduced. On the basis of above research, the internal mechanism of the coordinated development between transportation and regional economy is further analyzed.The main points of this paper are conceiving the thought and index system of evaluating the coordinated development between regional transportation system and economy system, gaining the synthetic development indexes of the two systems by the method of Principal Component Analysis, introducing static and dynamic coordination evaluation models and classifying the static coordinated development between transportation system and economy system about four classes in general and ten types in detail.Taking the five provinces in northwestern China as examples, this paper evaluates the coordinated development between transportation and economy according to the data of the two systems from 1995 to 2004. The static and the dynamic coordinated development indexes and the relation between transportation and economy in the grade of static coordinated development are gained. The results indicate that the synthetic development indexes of transportation system and economy system exceeded the average level after 2000, Xinjiang Autonomous Region and Shaanxi province had the similar developing trends. For the static coordinated development, the best static coordinated development region was Xinjiang Autonomous Region; the second was Shaanxi province; the last were Gansu province and Qinhai province. For the dynamic coordinate development, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Qinhai province and Ningxia Autonomous Region were better than Shaanxi province and Gansu province. At last, this paper gives the suggestion about coordinated development between transportation and economy for the five provinces in northwestern China.
