Study On Construction Of Organizational Knowledge Map

The 21^st century is era of knowledge economy. To meet the development demands of new era, organizations should perform management innovation, and implement knowledge management. Knowledge map is an effective tool for knowledge management. Traditional way to construct knowledge maps is mainly manual approach. However, modern information technology has enabled organizations to capture and store a large number of information and knowledge resources. Thus, manual approach to constructing knowledge maps seams very inefficient. It's necessary to introduce automatic creation technologies into the process of knowledge mapping. Moreover, a complete knowledge map should reveal various kinds of knowledge resources in organization and their interrelations. This requires explicit knowledge map to be connected with tacit knowledge map, to build the overall knowledge framework of organization. This study concerns about how to construct a knowledge map according to the needs of organization. The primary works of this study are as follow:(1)At first, discuss the meaning of knowledge and make clear the concept and content of knowledge map. Various types of knowledge map are analyzed and the type meeting the needs of organization is determined according to the knowledge management strategy and the purpose of knowledge mapping and so on. Thus, we get the basic structure of knowledge map, and then discuss the general construction process of knowledge map.(2)The majority of knowledge in organization exists in the form of text. Use hierarchical categorization to organize these text resources. The shortcomings of hierarchical structure are analyzed, and the corresponding solutions are presented. Based on hierarchical categorization, we present the explicit knowledge map with hierarchical structure. To construct the hierarchical knowledge map automatically, we analyze commonly used flat automatic text categorization methods, and then present a hierarchical categorization method based on the combination of some flat categorization methods, which can map text resources into hierarchy automatically and mark related text resources simultaneously.(3)Discuss tacit knowledge and its management strategy, and point out the important role tacit knowledge map plays in tacit knowledge management; design the model of expert node, and build tacit knowledge map by connecting them; connect tacit knowledge map with explicit knowledge map to form the overall structure of organizational knowledge map.(4)Finally, the performance of hierarchical categorization method presented in this study is evaluated by experiments using two text corpora.
