Knowledge has been regarded as a core resource of competency in the field of business. Scholars and practitioners are interested in many topics on knowledge and its management. Among these topics, tacit knowledge conversion is a problem of great importance, which has been discussed in different ways. The paper concentrates its study on the problem of how to facilitate tacit knowledge in a context of software developing team. Firstly, the paper made a thorough overview over the studies of knowledge management and knowledge conversion. Generally these studies and theories can be classified into two catalogues, namely those who don't think tacit knowledge can be converted and those who agree on the conversion of tacit knowledge. We conduct our study on these theories which say tacit knowledge can be converted in some proper way. These theories include the Dynamic Theory of Knowledge Creation, Knowledge Exchange Protocols and so on. In the main part of the paper, a tool was suggested based on"a learning history", a tool which has been used to facilitate experience learning of organization. A column is developed on the learning history, which is to regulate and standardize the demonstration of original tacit knowledge. Then a case study was made in order to test whether the proposed tool is helpful in the conversion of tacit knowledge. By using statistical methods, the result of the case made it sure that the proposed is really useful in the process of tacit knowledge conversion in the context of software development. In conclusion, the paper proposed a modified tool, which is based on a learning history, to facilitate tacit knowledge. The result demonstrates a kind of tendency which makes it clear that the conversion of tacit knowledge is facilitated. However further study is in need to better design the tool and to make general test.
