Studay On The Coordnated Development Of Urumqi Metropolitan Area

With the rapid development of world economy ,cities are playing very important roles in the world. Metropolitan area , as the aggregates of cities ,under the great push of its core city are exerting more importance in international competition .In contrast with single city ,the whole competition of metropolitan area is stronger . We hold this as self—evident that metropolitan area with its whole competition and innovation will become the propeller for the rapid and sustaintable progress in regional economy in the 21 st century.Urumqi metropolitan area is an oasis Urban Agglomerations in arid region. Its core city Urumqi is the political ,economical and cultural center of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region . Urumqi metropolitan takes an important role in Xinjiang .In this paper we study its bound and type firstly. Then, we study the major problems in the coordinated development of Urumqi metropolitan area from views on industry, urban system ,environment, policy and so on . We find there have many problems . Because lack of obvious distributions between cities , so there are problems as homologous industrial structure in Urumqi metropolitan area, also ratio of valve-Added to Gross industrial output value is low. From the aspect of urbanization ,for the aggregation of factors into the core city Urumqi the degree of the primary city Urumqi is too high ,thus becomes the irrational grade scale structure in Urumqi metropolitan area , futhermore proportion of industries in the GDP lag behind the urbanization rate. Pollution in the Urumqi metropolitan area is serious because for the geography surrounding and the development of cities ,water-resources in this is short and usage for it is waste. Because there is no cross- administrative boundary organization which restricts the flow of factors .These problems badly leave negative impact on the coordinate development of Urumqi metropolitan area. Learning from some advanced metropolitan area in the world ,aiming at the coordinate development of Urumqi metropolitan area, we put forward corresponding measures and advise.
