| Industry convergence is an important characteristic of new economy era. Independent and dispersive operation model among different industry is not fit for the development of new economy. Cooperation, alliance and merger are becoming active focus in the fields of industry economy. For example, NTT DoCoMo acquired approximately 2.6% of total issued shares of Fuji Television corporations in 2006. And China Mobile finished a strategy investment for Phoenix Satellite TV by means of acquiring 20% shares in 2006. Telecommunication industry is going through a deep change and transformation, not only being a challenge, but also being an opportunity. For instance, VoIP brings forth a great concussion to traditional telecom industry, but IPTV will create a new income source. In order to face the great challenge, plenty of telecom operators bring forward slogan of strategy transformation. For example, China Mobile is changing from "mobile communication expert" to "mobile information expert". China Telecom hopes to be a provider of comprehensive information service in future.Based on the above-mentioned industry background, this paper conducted a deep research on the convergence of telecom and internet and media. Both the theory of industry and practical economy phenomena provide strong support for the research of this paper. Fist, this paper probes into the changes from telecommunication, including media property of telecommunication, convergence of Telecom and Internet and CATV network, industry value chain and business model. Second, this paper analyzes the service characteristics and regulation policy of VoIP and IPTV. Finally, this paper introduces telecom operators' transformation strategy in detail, and puts forward some development advices.The innovation of this paper mainly includes three aspects, first, technology boundary model under industry convergence; second, media property of telecommunication; third, strategy transform advices for telecom operator. |
