The deepening of economic globalization and the rapid development of information technology have greatly powered the development of global service industry. Simultaneously, they have also brought enormous changes to the development trend and the structure of service industry. Information innovation, resources sharing, crossover development and international capital flow have changed the boundary of service industry and resulted in new types of service industries. Compared with the developed countries and some developing countries, the development of modern service industry and its technological level in China are relatively lagging behind. This development situation of China's service industries has tremendous disadvantages. Enterprises in the country are not sensitive to the emerging formats of service industry in the international markets, and they are not aware of the importance of developing those new businesses as new economic growth pole, and with more difficulties on developing new competitive advantages in these fields. Therefore, the study on the current international competitiveness and boundary embodies of service industry, the development of service industry boundary changes and their influences on service industry's competitiveness worldwide are helpful for analyzing the reason why the modern industries in China is uncompetitive, and they are more advantageous to raise some suggestions on improving China's service industry's competitiveness. This thesis is consisted of six chapters. The first chapter is an introduction part, mainly expounding the background, significance, research objectives and methods. Chapter two introduces detailed related theories of boundary and international competitiveness of service industry. The third chapter mainly focused on the current situation of China's overall service industry, the export and import of service trade and the international competitiveness of the service industry of China. The fourth chapter firstly analyzes both internal and external influence factors of international competitiveness, and then studies on the influence mechanism and path of international competitiveness. The fifth chapter basically studies on the evaluation of the international competitive of service industry. According to the analysis of the preceding sections, this part constructs the international competitiveness evaluation index system from the perspective of the service industrial boundary, and using analytic hierarchy process to quantify the indexes and inspect it. Chapter six closes with conclusions, policy recommendations, innovation arguments and research prospects. This thesis concludes that the import and export of service trade, the service industrial structure, business boundary, science and technology boundary, and the international market access standards are the most significant indicators of the international competitiveness of service industry. The innovations of this research appeal in two main aspects. First, it gives a new definition of industrial boundary from the consideration of dynamic changes. Second, based on the establishment of the evaluative system from the perspective of industry boundary, the analytic hierarchy process is used to quantify the influence of relative indexes to the competitiveness of service industry.
