The Research Of Urban Competitiveness And Urban Flow Of The Pearl River Delta

The urban economy of the Pearl River Delta plays an important role in GuangdongProvince's economic growth and the urban economic gross occupies eighty percent of theprovince's total volume. In the time of the knowledge-based economy, the economicdevelopment of the Pearl River Delta finds both new opportunities and challenges. Promotingthe coordinated development of the urban agglomeration has become the social concern. In anurban agglomeration, relation between the cities is competition and cooperation. Competitionmeans a city's superior of gaining resources. At the same time, there is spatial interactionbetween the cities. The degree of the urban flow is one of the important quantified guidelinesreflecting the interaction of the cities.This paper wants to research the competition between the cities in the Pearl River Delta,based on Analytic Hierarchy Process. It discusses the position of the nigh cites in the area. Then,it calculates the degree of the urban flow, and analyses the relationship of the cities in the urbanagglomeration. At last, the paper discusses the coordinated development of the urbanagglomeration and tables some proposals to the government.
