Since American economist C. K. Prahalad and Gary Hamel have published the paperthe Core Competency of Corporation on Harvard Business Review in 1990,the corecompetency (core ability) appeared repeatedly in academic and corporation, core abilitybecame the key to sustainable development of enterprises. According to a related survey,the average lifetime of enterprise of our country is only 5 to 6 years, the small andmedium scale enterprises which appear quickly and die quickly became commonphenomenon. Why lifetime of our country enterprise is so short, external reasons is oneside, and the internal side is the critical, lacking of the core ability is the root of that. Ifwe want to establish our own "century shop" we must cultivate and accumulate the coreability of enterprises.It is well known that it is a long process for a small and medium-scale enterprise tocultivate or accumulate its own core ability, so it must take advantage of each kind oftalent during this process, the managers who are maker and executive of all policy will behelmsman of the enterprise's future development, will directly affect whether theorganizational aim achieve or not. So they act an important role in process of coreability's recognition, promotion and development in a small and medium-scale enterprise.This thesis focus on the influence of managers' knowledge, ability and quality on thesmall and medium-scale enterprises' core ability, find the relation between enterprises'managers and the small and medium-scale enterprise's core ability, will also expect tofind the influence factor of the managers, let it well service for the core ability of thesmall and medium-scale enterprises.Based on the reviewing of the literature and theory analysising, This thesis firstlyconstructed the knowledge, competence and quality model of manager as well as thestrategy conformity, organization conformity and technology conformity model of coreability of the small and medium-scale enterprise, then designed scales to the models.Questionnaires covers six provinces or city, they are Jiangxi, Guangdong, zhejiang,hunan, tianjin, shanxi etc. there are 21 companies accepted my survey. I obtained 157 effective samples, it basically meet the requirement of the research. Consistency of thescales and structured validity of the models is also meet the requirement of research. Thethesis then attempted to find the internal relation between manager and core ability ofsmall and medium-scale enterprises as well as manager influent factors. The results isfollowing:First, the enterprise manager strongly influence the core ability of small and medium-scale enterprise, which mainly displays in the correlation between enterprise managers'ability and enterprise strategy conformity ability, organization conformity ability isremarkable, the correlation between managers' quality and enterprise strategy conformityability, organization conformity is also remarkable; Second, it is different thatpersonnel/administration managers and technical managers influence on small andmedium-scale enterprise's core ability. Personnel or administration managers influencecore ability of the small and medium-scale enterprise by influencing organizationconformity ability, but the technical managers by influencing the technology conformityability to achieve the purpose. The influence of quality, ability and knowledge ofpersonnel/administration managers descend, but the influence of ability, knowledge andquality of technical manager descend; Third, Among all the influence factor of managers,the degree is the largest, the correlation between degree and managers' knowledge, ability,quality is positive and remarkable; Managers' working time as well as age has positivecorrelation with quality; it surprise us that position level of managers and the enterprisenature never appear any correlation between the knowledge, ability and quality ofmanagers; The enterprise scale only has remarkable negative correlation with managers'ability.
