Strategic Analysis Of China's Development Form Traditional To Modern Logistics

Logistics is a discipline derived from the long period of social development. After the long academic thinking of the theorists, people begin to be aware of the fact that in productive activities, there is one that does not require direct participation into the actual process of production but is till indispensable in the whole process, and this is given the name logistics.With the incessant development of economy and that of the society, the circulation of goods is playing an increasingly important role in every nation. Internationally speaking, the industry of the circulation of goods is reviewed as the artery and foundation of national economy and the degree of its development is becoming to be viewed as one of the symbols of the degree of modernity and comprehensive power of a nation. At present, the industry of the circulation of goods becomes a new hotspot and growth point of the national economies. There are many successful practices of the development of the industry of the circulation of goods, relevant policies and classical cases in the developed countries that we can learn from.Modern logistics is a new thing in China, no matter as an industry or as a discipline, and it is at the preliminary phase of its development. Compared with that of the developed countries, the logistics in China is now simply limited to passive reaction against the background of the international requirement of logistical services. Therefore, to counter the challenges of economic globalization, the logistics in China should undergo rapid institutional as well as technical innovations.In the Tenth Five-Year Plan in China, it is clearly stipulated that the traditional logistics should be reformed and improved. This can be viewed as a policy basis. Many Departments and Ministries have been actively making trade programs and issuing relevant documents, providing the logistics with guiding ideas. The trade organization of China's logistics, Chinese Logistics Alliance Network, was founded with the view to furthering the development and trade regulation of logistics. Cities have been working on the programming of city logistics with the development of modern city logistics as the core of city development. The Eleventh Five-Year Plan further stipulates that the modern logistics should be developed and the managerial techniques should be popularized, the inner-corporate logistics should be socialized and the serialization of the buying of materials, the organization of production, the selling of products and the recycling of reproducible resources should be realized. Modern logistics should be professional and the third-party logistics should be strongly encouraged. The standardized system of modern logistics should be established, the new technology of it should be employed and the information-oriented logistics should be enhanced. The infrastructure of logistics should be integrated, large-scaled center of logistics should be set up and regional centers for logistics should be developed. New trends indicate that the modernization of logistics will become the lever of the development of our economy. So much so, the importance of modern logistics has been universally recognized.The development of our logistics has entered the phase of high-demand and fast-development. Corporations involved in this industry should seek the opportunity to relocate their market orientation, to learn and introduce into themselves advanced technology of logistics from abroad, to develop products and services with high add-value, to elevate the competitive capability of corporations and therefore to improve the general level of our logistics.The main concern of this paper is to elaborate on the background of development, present state of affairs and successful practices of foreign logistics with as its basis western economics and the classic theories by Marx and Engels, and the narrative focus of this paper will be the historical process of the development of the logistics of China and the specific features of the development of logistics in present-day China. Finally, with the features and present state of affairs of our logistics as a basis, a relatively comprehensive analysis and study is performed and many specific measures and suggestions for the further development of our logistics are put forward. The innovation of this paper lies in the raising of the point of the application of green logistics, and the suggestions and measures concerning the sustainable development of our logistics, which can all find their echo in the outlook of scientific development advocated by our government. This paper consists of four chapters:Chapter one is devoted mainly to the introduction to the origin of modern logistics and the relevant classic theories in western economics and the theories by Marx and Engels.Chapter two is mainly about the introduction to the survey of world logistics and to the development of western logistics, with as its focus the successful practices and policies of western developed countries.Chapter three focuses its attention on the developmental process of our logistics. The present state of affairs of our development is thoroughly stated and another focus here is the necessity for the development of modern logistics in China.Chapter four presents some policies and suggestion concerning the development of modern logistics in China with as its perspective the construction regulations and policies, the fostering of third-party logistics and the development of green logistics.The conclusion of this paper is that: with the research on the classic theories, the analysis of western development of modern logistics, the incessant development of China's economy and the common efforts by our government, logistic enterprises and the academic circle, the logistics of China will usher in a bright future soon.
