With the development of economy and globalization of competition, manufacturing enterprises in our country are facing more and more fierce competition. Workshop layout has a significant influence on material flow, information flow, production capacity, production cost and safety of production system. It can save the cost of material handling, shorten production cycle, accelerate production process and circulation of working capital. Therefore, excellent facility layout is an important resource and tool for improving benefits of production system, a precondition and foundation for realizing modern management and advanced mode of production.In this thesis, facility layout methods and plan optimization are studied on conductor workshop of New Northeast Electric (Shenyang) High Voltage Switchgear Co.,Ltd. At first, the present status, development and some advanced methods in facility layout are reviewed. Then, the implication and principles of facility layout in workshop are introduced. The pattern and method of system layout planning (SLP) are studied focally. Facility layout in conductor workshop is studied theoretically, systematically, scientifically, and thoroughly. The calculating method of the equivalent flow capacity is thoroughly investigated combined with some factors like workpiece length and shape. By analyzing and calculating logistics strength in the conductor workshop, the positions correlation drawings were drawn for job divisions. Group technology is also applied to facility layout of conductor workshop. By applying these advanced methods, cluster layout mode which is adopted simply by the enterprise in the past was replaced substantially. Some initial feasible scheme for alternative choice was proposed firstly through positions correlation drawings. Then, the final optimized scheme was determined by applying point appraisal method to these alternative schemes. Finally, detailed facility layout drawing was presented for conductor workshop.It is proved from practice that handling workload can be reduced significantly by laying out conductor processing equipments from different workshops into conductor workshop. Such a layout mode may not only satisfy process requirements of different parts but also ensure reasonability of material handling in the workshop. The above methods and measures offer theoretical and technical support on reducing waste and cost in the enterprise. The agreement between distribution requirements and delivery is also increased. So, comprehensive competition power of the enterprise is also increased in the market.
