Analysis On The International Competitive Power Of Our Textile Industry In After-quota Era

China is the biggest textile producing and exporting country in the world. The textile industry is one of the few industries which have both comparative and competitive advantage. The global quota for textile and clothing was eliminated on January. 1, 2005．From now on, the global textile industry entered a new trade era. After the quota was cancelled , our textile industry is confronted with the great opportunities and challenges. Under the situation, the important issue of China textile industry is about how to maintain its lasting and unique competitive power. The past literatures more focus on the analysis of current textile industry's situation and discussion of corresponding strategies, lacking theory foundation.Competitiveness analysis is one of the major analytical methods in economic theory. This method is featured by its strong comprehensiveness and broad applicability. The history of study on industrial competitiveness is not too much long, but the theory of industrial competitiveness develops so rapidly that it is now one of the significant branches among the industrial economies. A thorough study on the competitiveness of the textile industry of China under a scientific analytical frame can help the industry develop by providing some useful means and ways. "Diamond Model" put forward by Michael porter is the applied method in the theories of international trade. The theory can help analyze the international competitiveness of industry comprehensively. Simultaneously, the Principal Component Analysis(PCA)method is a significant tool of plural statistical analysis theory. It provides a scientific solution to distribute weight among indexes in quantitative analysis. This thesis adopts the PCA method to analyze the competitive power between China textile and other countries' textile industry. Therefore, the thesis mainly adopts the two ways to analyze international competitive power of our textile industry. The thesis has 6 parts altogether. Chapter 1, enducing the problems analyzed and introduction to analytical method and frame; chapter 2, comparative analysis on the competitive advantage of textile industry at home and abroad; chapter 3, quantitative analysis on competitive power of China textile industry by the method of PCA; chapter 4, suggestions to promote competitive power of China textile industry; chapter 5, evaluating developing prospects of our textile objectively; chapter 6, assume a summary to the whole thesis and point out the defects of the thesis.
