A Study Of The Solutions To The Sustainable Use Of Agricultural Water Resources In China

Water is one of the special resources, indispensable and irreplaceable,comerstoning the existence and development of human beings. Without it, therewould be no progress of civilization, no development of economy and, certainly, nostability of society. The population of our country is nearly 1.3 billion and willpredictably mount to 1.6 billion in the year of 2030. Therefore, it always maintains theleading position in the development of the economy and society of China to solve theproblem of food-supplication for billion odd people. Agriculture, as is known, is thebasis of national economy. In this perspective, it is certainly the basic guarantee of thesustainable development of Chinese economy and society to realize theself-supplication of grains and other chief agricultural products. To achieve this goal,the sustainable use of agricultural water resources is undoubtedly the premise andguarantee of the sustainable development of agriculture.The paper makes a study on this subject in the following five chapters: The firstchapter: Introduction proposes the subject and elaborates the studying purpose,significance, thinking, content, method and the original ideas of the paper. The secondchapter introduces the situation and the existing problems of agricultural resourcesand agricultural water resources in our country. The third chapter elaborates thetheories of the sustainable use of agricultural water resources: one is ecological values;the other is the theory of sustainable development. On the basis of the theories, thechapter further elaborates the connotation of the sustainable use of agricultural waterresources and clarifies that the sustainable development of agricultural waterresources is the consequent requirement of enforcing the strategies of substantialdevelopment. The fourth chapter makes an analysis on the main problems of thesustainable development of agricultural water resources and leading factors affectingthe development in China. The fifth chapter, on the basis of analysis and comparison,makes the suggestions of the accesses and solutions to the problems of the sustainabledevelopment of agricultural water resources in our country.
