This is an analysis focusing mainly on recruiting websites, which attempts to examine and explain the current recruiting websites management mode. It introduces a framework of the impact of new information-technology-era economy on traditional industrial concepts in China, such as those of talent agencies. Since the late-1990s, a number of online recruiting media such as job boards, corporate career websites and e-recruiting consortia have been introduced into the talent market in China. And the recruiting websites have met the needs of both job seekers and employers: job seekers log on these sites for free to find appropriate positions, when recruiters are trying to find qualified candidates through these sites as well. This thesis is composed of 4 chapters. In the first chapter, the background and researching methods together with the significance of the study are introduced, after defining some basic concepts. The thesis begins in chapter II with an analysis of global and domestic online recruiting-the classification, functions and the status quo of online recruiting service. Moreover, it discusses different groups of service providers and traces some recent strategic alliance activities in this field. And then after discussing some detailed industrial management data collected from close investigations on the industrial trends of the technology development and marketing segmentation, it evaluates the current state of domestic online recruiting websites in comparison with that of the traditional recruiting media, such as "job fair", "newspaper recruitment" and "headhunter agency", and afterward analyzes the difference between them. Recruitment via internet helps employers with better options of potential employees, cutting costs and enhancing recruiting efficiency, while in the meantime, it has deficiencies, for instance, as a result of the free service a mass of applications has been becoming an extra burden for recruiters. The next chapter introduces and analyzes the current mode of online recruiting service. From the case study on 51job.com, one of the leading online recruiting websites in China, this section introduces the operational performance and capability on profitability of recruiting websites. On top of this, in this section, a Cross-subsidization decision model for online recruitment is employed to analyze the impact of major online recruiting business such as 51Job.com. Cross-subsidization is a universal pricing model for cybermediaries. Therefore, from the perspective of industrial organization, this model is desirable in practice. To establish free accesses to recruiting information for job seekers should be the focus of normalizing the online recruitment and the developing strategies of recruiting agencies. In the last chapter, it concludes with the major findings and a list of guidelines and proposals helping to ensure the future success of online recruiting sites. More integrated solutions, which tend to be a combination of advantages from different media, would come into emergence during further competition.
