Along with the deepgoing process in the market economy reformatory, Chinesetravel agency industry has already got great development and possessed aconsiderable background after it experienced changes from nothing to an industryand from small to large during the past twenty years, in which the reform andopening policies came into force. However, the domestic tourist market in ourcountry is just at its development stage, and the construction of the socialist marketeconomy system in our country is also on an exploration stage, accordingly, we mayconsider that Chinese travel agency industry is still in a primary development stageat the present time. Thereinto, large-sized travel agencies are little in our country,but they are still changing and developing; there are a good many of medium-sizedtravel agencies in China; and the small-sized travel agencies occupy theoverwhelming majority of Chinese travel agency industry.In the drastic tourist market competition, the mainstream tourism economicsattentions the development of the large enterprises, and research problems such asthe system transition, collectivization and transnational operations and so on; Theorycircles generally consider that Chinese travel agencies universally appear a small,incompact,disorderly,weak and inferiors situation, and deem that the marketconfiguration of correspondency system which large-sized travel agency blocs leadsmall and medium-sized travel agencies can only appear no other than accomplishthe adjusting of differentiation of labor in the tourism industry; In business circles,from central to local, as a result of problems such as the travel agency managesystem and the character of industry itself and so on, the large-sized travel agenciesare prevalently confronted with the situation of more and more diminutivedimensions, and most large-sized travel agencies are aggregations of several small-sized travel agencies, meanwhile, a great deal of newly registered small andmedium-sized travel agencies are playing the more and more important role in themarket competition. The small-sized travel agencies which occupy the overwhelming majority ofChinese travel agency industry exert a vital function in the whole Chinese tourismindustry, but the development of the small and medium-sized travel agencies in ourcountry also exists many problems and deficiencies. Concretely speaking, thedeveloping of the small and medium-sized travel agencies is mainly faced withproblems such as rapid quantity dilatation,laggard corporation system- lownetworking level,inferiors product market development capability,weakorganization and reception ability,inferior quality safeguard ability,low price anddisorder competition,pervasive short-term behavior and so on.In view of the important position of the continual ascending small and medium-sized travel agencies in Chinese tourism industry and its developmental instability,the letterpress will give a specialized analyses directing towards the life cycle ofChinese small and medium-sized travel agencies, and will generalize, conclude someinterrelated measures and proposals to lengthen the life cycle of small and medium-sized travel agencies in China.
