Research On The Sustainable Development Transportation Industry Of Chongqing

Unsustainable economy development, abnormal development of the manufacture and consumption and the population explosion have created critical challenges for human's survival and development. Human beings have to remain committed to the principle of sustainable development in order to protect the benefits of the present and the following generations. Since transportation is the major constituent of the human activities, the necessities of human's living and manufacturing and the lifeline of the economy, it plays a significant role in the sustainable development. The sustainable development requires that transportation should not only boost economy, but also advance the social civilization and balance the relationship among population, resources, environment, ecology, economy and society.At present, China's economic development is characterized by the fast increase of economic aggregate, a shift in the mode of increase from extensive form to intensive one, a drastic change in the national economic formations and the steady increase in people's income. Consequently, various cargo deliveries and passenger transports increase rapidly, which accordingly needs more convenient, punctual and reliable transportation. Chongqing's industrial updating and structural adjustment also impose new requirements on the transportation industry. Under the pressure caused by regional competitions, the promotion of the sustainable development of the transportation industry in Chongqing has never been so urgent and necessary.Analyzing the current situations of the transportation industry in Chongqing and considering the practical situations of Chongqing's economic and social development, this paper made some proposals about the sustainable development of Chongqing's transportation industry. The paper first introduced the relevant theories concerning the sustainable development of the transportation industry, and then discussed the current situations home and abroad and summarized their experience. The third part of the paper analyzed the overall situations of Chongqing's transportation industry and discussed the major problems. Finally, the paper suggests the principles and the objectives of the sustainable development of Chongqing's transportation industry and proposed some methods and measures to promote the sustainable development.
