Research On Economic And Social Development Path Of Suzhou City Under Resource Constraints

Resources have become more prominent in the process of economic and social development for all countries around the world. As a big developing country, China, passing by sustained and rapid economic development in the past 20 years, has led to a substantial increase on the demand for resources; while facing acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, Resource constraints have taken an increasingly obvious adverse effect on economic and social development. Suzhou, as one of the most developed city in China, the rate of economic growth is very fast in recent years, and demand for all types of resources also increase very much, but local resources in Suzhou city are very few, resources for economic and social development mainly depend on domestic and foreign markets, so resource constraints play more prominent role in economic and social development of Suzhou. The thesis analyses the resources of Suzhou and their constraints to economic and social development, calculates the carrying capacity of resources in Suzhou city with empirical research, and finally puts forward: Suzhou must change the traditional model of economic growth; pay more attention to the quality and efficiency of economic development; and program resources development strategies, to guarantee the healthy development of economy and society.
