As the functions of small and medium-sized enterprises increase in the area economicstructure day by day, the reform and open policy is unceasingly thorough, and our countryjoins WTO, the small and medium-sized enterprises are facing furious competition andpressure. How to keep the fast and healthy development in the furious competitionenvironment continually is the austere task mid-and small-scale enterprises face. Researchof the core competence theory has provided explicit and feasible methods of promotingthe integrated diathesis of those enterprises, enhancing the holistic competition strength,and obtaining the long-term competition predominance in the intense market competition.Therefore, it is urgent and important to study the core competition of our small andmedium-sized enterprises, and to correctly evaluate the condition.The present study analyzed the core competence evaluation of small andmedium-sized enterprises by using relative theories from micro and macroeconomics,regional economics, enterprise economics, institutional economics. By using quantitiveand qualitative methods and the methodology of multianalysis, econometrics, it evaluatedthe core competence in Hubei with evaluation model established, and analyzed its effectsmetrically. Therefore, the study has strict theory logic inference and positive-model proof.The whole dissertation contains seven chapters, and its basic contents and mainconclusions are as follows:In the instruction, the background of topic selection, its meanings, and the tendencyof such research home and abroad were presented; train of the research thought was raised.In the end, the new ideas and problems were pointed.Chapter 2 and 3 were the research theory beginning and basis. Chapter 2 brieflyoutlined the theoretical method of the enterprise competence, and introduced the relativeachievements obtained in classic economics, industrial economics and managerialeconomics, as well as the problems being present. Chapter 3 explained the meanings ofenterprise core competence at the beginning, and then elaborated the relationship betweencompetence and the core one. Finally, the specific constitutional factors of the corecompetence were obtained through the analysis of theoretical and practical fields.Chapter 4 detailedly and objectively analyzed the present situation of the corecompetence of small and medium-sized enterprises in Hubei through massive systematicaldata. It was thought that small and medium scale enterprises in Hubei had many problems.For example, differences in the policy environments of foreign investment and innovationlimited the development of enterprises' innovation ability, and influenced the formation ofcore competence; the foundation was poor, the product rank was low, the technologycontent was not high, and the research innovation ability was weak; lack of talented stuffleads to being unable to carry out the innovation of technology and management; theinnovation fund investment was small because of inadequacy. Chapter 5 described the constructive process of the evaluation model of small andmedium-sized enterprise core competence. At first, it introduced the evaluation system ofthe enterprise competence home and abroad, and then established the index system of thesmall and medium-sized enterprise core competition evaluation, which contained sixlevel-one indices and twenty-six level-two indices. Based on the index system, the presentstudy chose factor analysis method after considering advantages and disadvantages ofdifferent evaluation methods. Finally, the level-one and level-two index evaluation modelsof the small and medium enterprise core competence were formed by synthesizing theappraisal index system and method.In Chapter 6, the evaluation model established in the last chapter was applied toquantitively evaluate the core competence of small and medium scale enterprises in Hubei,and analyzed the evaluation results. At first, it synthetically evaluated the core competenceof small and medium scale enterprises in Hubei, separately listed the synthetic scores ofvarious areas and every level-one index score, and analyzed them. In the second part, theinfluential factors of the core competence were analyzed from the two sides of area andgovernment policy, and gained some simple conclusions and suggestions.The last chapter induced the main conclusions in this dissertation, and pointedproblems of this study and the suggestions for further research.
