Emergy Analysis Based Study On Calculating Regional Green GDP

Global problems such as shortage of resources, ecological environment deterioration have brought unprecedented challenges to human world. People began to realize the obvious deficiency of using traditional GDP to judge the regional economic and social development. Therefore, it is urgent to develop green national economic accounting. There are several benefits of taking Green GDP as core indicator to evaluate and guide the function of national economy. It will not only reflect the economic growth level, but also reveal the degree of harmonization between economic development and nature protection. To develop green accounting is also a requirement of fulfilling sustainable development.The main obstacle of green GDP calculation is how to evaluate resources and environmental cost. Though there are many methods for resources and environment accounting, still the deviation between natural system and social economic system is not dealt. Such accounting can not evaluate resource and environmental cost scientifically. Emergy analysis method is introduced in this dissertation, to combine the natural system and economy system together and make possible calculation of resource and environment cost.By literature review of green GDP accounting and emergy theories, method innovation is developed in this dissertation. Emergy analysis method is introduced in resource and environment accounting. And it can make green GDP calculation feasible. Based on the concept of green GDP and characteristics of emergy analysis, the framework of regional green GDP accounting is put forward and steps for calculation are designed. By case study, the green GDP of Dalian from 2001 to 2005 is calculated. The developing trend of Dalian in resource and environment cost can be judged from it. Meanwhile, suggestions are made based on the calculating result. It is necessary to build green economic accounting system, promote cycling economy, improve the efficiency of resource use, and improve environment quality to promote sustainable development. And emergy analysis based calculating of regional green GDP will reveal the effect of such activities.
