The chain-store business model was originally started from United States and Europe countries in early 20 century. After more than one hundred years development, this kind of enterprises has established their business in many countries across the world. They not only gave deep impact to the global retail and service industry, but also overall economy, social culture and people's life in many developing and developed countries. The author makes comprehensive analysis for social economic condition, developing strategy and management theory of foreign chain store companies. Research the developing path, current situation and the impact to social economy in China for many international chain store companies since they started to entry China market in 1980's. She also analyzes the developing path, current situation, achievement and challenge of Chinese domestic chain store companies.Based on the commitment of WTO agreement signed by Chinese government in 2001, Chinese government will gradually open China market for international chain store companies since2004.This thesis also analyze the prospect for these companies in China after 2004, and how Chinese domestic chain store companies achieve success when facing furious competition from international giants.After widely reviewing research paper of many domestic and foreign scholar and expert, author analyzes the developing condition, developing strategy and management theory for the chain store business. Find out the existing problem of domestic chain store enterprises in China, and provide solution to solve these problems, and give theoretic and practical comment and suggestion for these enterprises to make effective developing policies.The main point of this thesis is: chain store business model is main stream of modern retail and service business, international giants have realized this long time ago, they started to entry China market since 1980's and made and implemented long term business strategy in China. They also speed up their steps at post-WTO age. Although domestic chain store enterprises have made great progress after many years development, but they are still facing tough, unique challenge. They can only survive, develop and grow after fully studying advance technology and experience from foreign counterpart and combine their own advantage.
