A Research On The Competencies For Technicians In Chinese IT Companies

IT industry is one of the fast-developing industries. The renewed rate of IT products and the short lifecycle require the improvement of core capability of IT companies. Technicians play an important role in development of IT companies. They are one of the key human resources influencing the IT companies'success. The research on the human resource management system for technicians in IT companies was limited, so this thesis tries to research the competencies for technicians in Chinese IT companies, settle a foundation for future researches.Based on the researches on the characters of technicians in IT companies, the theories on competency and the literature review, by the means of advertisement analysis, the thesis verifies the items of competency for technicians in IT companies, and compiles them into a survey questionnaire. After investigating 142 participants, with the one way ANOVA and factor analysis by SPSS, discuss the competency for technicians in Chinese IT companies, and get the following conclusions:1. To the valuation on the importance of competencies, technicians have consistent opinion on the title of technical post, and significant differences are perceived on the levels of different education background and worked age.2. The competency for technicians in Chinese IT companies consists of 7 dimensions: Operation Ability, Personality, Serving Ability, Inter-personnel Ability, Transform Ability, Ideation and Inner Drive.3. To the valuation on the importance of competencies, there are no significant differences on the IT company type, but the different opinions are found among different job types on several competencies.
