This thesis discusses land use dynamic at a county level base on remote sensing and land use dynamic monitor base on RS. Land use change detection, vegetation cover degree and Change of Landscape Pattern were applied to the case in Guyuan County's land use changes from 1999 to 2007.This thesis discusses the techniques and methods regarding monitoring land use dynamic at a county level base on change detection technique of RS, date updating and analysis base on GIS. The above methods and techniques were applied to the case in Guyuan County's land use changes from 1999 to 2000.Three TM/ETM+ image were used. Land use change areas were determined using two change detection techniques of post–classification comparison and spectrum comparison. The resultant change images obtained by the two change detection methods were overlaid to obtain more accurate change information. The analysis of the change information indicates that land use in Guyuan have changed greatly in the study period. The land use change in forest, grassland and unused land. The forest and grassland significantly increased, while the unused land increased.After more study and exploration, come to the following conclusions.Firstly, by using the three-year 1999,2002 and 2007 distribution images of land types, with ARCGIS, ERDAS IMAGING software, paper analyze land use quantity change, land use structure change and land use transition matrices.Secondly, according to the theory of ecology, using professional software, paper calculate three representative landscape index of different periods in Guyuan county, get landscape pattern of different periods.Thirdly, the TM date of Guyuan county is adopted and the vegetation fraction status in 1999, 2002, 2007 are monitored with the dimidiate pixel model and the vegetation fraction grade map and the corresponding statistic date are provided. It gets great effect sandstorm source control of Beijing and Tianjin, and the vegetation fraction status get higher level.
