With the more and more fierce competition and the uncertainty of market,technology and policy, the environment outside the enterprise is changing rapidly. Under these circumstances, corporations should enlarge their eyeshot in order to obtain competitive edge. The business ecosystem is a new theory which mainly focuses on the harmonious relationship and symbiosis between corporations and their environment. And under this ecosystem, corporations will finally achieve the goal of sustainable development.The author defines the business ecosystem as follows: it is a kind of complicated system which is formed by the relational groups. It has three compositions: the leading corporation factor,the value chain factor and the competitor factor. The relationship among them is not traditional competition but symbiosis.The author designs the evaluation system on the basis of the three compositions above. The evaluation index called the healthy index of the business ecosystem is raised. And it includes three factors: firstly, the vitality index, on the leading corporation's core ability and present conditions analysis; secondly, the organization index, on the value chain structure and mechanism analysis; finally, the adaptation index, on the macro environment analysis.Meanwhile the author uses various studying methods, such as qualitative and quantitative analysis,reality observation and theoretical generalization and so on. Delphi method and expert consultation method are also used. By comparison with the comment, the corporation can make the development strategy accordingly.In a word, the business ecosystem is a symbiosis system. To build a healthy business ecosystem is essential for a corporation to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
