Based on the series of internal changes in the last few years, both the strategic adjustment process and corporate culture building of the Changqing Well Construction Company(hereinafter referred to as"CQWCC")are analyzed in this paper. The company is mainly engaged in engineering and technology services. As a upriver company of China National Petroleum Company, how to exist and develop is the top problem of the company, and thus it is also important for the strategy and culture of the company. In order to adapt to the requirements of the strategy development of China National Petroleum Company, the enterprise strategy and culture of the company is researched in this paper. How the enterprise culture to drive the implements of the strategy in the process of the strategy adjustment is also analyzed in this paper.CQWCC has adjusted its strategy following the combination of its three subsidiaries since 2001, which results in a series of corresponding important reforms in interior CQWCC, including the management reform, organization reform, and corporate culture reform. By analyzing the corporate culture and strategy adjustment in CQWCC, the author gives suggestions about how to make adjustment and improvement aimed at tackling the existing problems during the process of corporate cultural construction, which is helpful to the corporate cultural building and strategic adjustment of the big and medium-sized state-owned enterprises in China.The necessity of strategic adjustment of CQWCC is dealt with in Part One. Firstly, the situation of petroleum industry and the position of CQWCC in the industry are expounded by using SWOT and PEST analytical methods. Then the situation of strategic adjustment of CQWCC in 2001 and its composition after the adjustment are stated.The history and problems in existence of CQWCC are discussed in Part Two. Because CQWCC,a big state-owned enterprise, belongs to the petroleum industry, the corporate culture situation of the industry is analyzed first, and then the culture situation of CQWCC before and after the adjustment is compared. Finally the present problems of CQWCC are analyzed.The current situation of CQWCC is analyzed by using Kuiyin model in Part Three. By further analyzing the matching situation between the corporate culture and the strategy, the innovation and development direction of CQWCC is given and the improvement measures are also listed.
