A Study On Competitiveness Appraisal Of Agricultural Leading Enterprise

Agricultural integration is a new management way which can transforms the traditional agriculture to the modern agriculture on the current conditions of our country. The agricultural leading enterprise is the organizer, leader, explorer and technology innovator, and plays the central role in business, information and service in the agricultural integration. It can lead the farmers facing the market, and realize the value of the product. The agribusiness firms have played a key role in promoting the development of rural economy. In a whole word, agribusiness firms in our country are not as stronger as agribusiness firms in the developed countries about competitiveness and have not played a leading role in the development of rural economy, which affects the process of industrialization and modernization of the agriculture. Therefore, it has an important significance to conduct the research on the competitiveness of leading enterprises and appraise the competitive power correctly.In this paper, we definited the concept of the competitiveness of leading enterprises and constructed the comprehensive appraisal index system which applied to the enterprise competitiveness of the agricultural leading enterprises in China form the survival and development aspects of competitiveness. Then we analyzed the competitiveness of the 40 listed agricultural companies utilizing the factor analysis. Empirical results show that there are no significant gaps in the comprehensive competitiveness among most of the companies. Furthermore, the appraisal on the survival and development aspects of competitiveness shows that there are no significant gaps in the survival competitiveness, but significant gaps in the development competitiveness among the 40 listed agricultural companies. The appraisal on single aspects of competitiveness has shown that leading enterprises which have a strong comprehensive competitiveness do not necessarily have strong ones on single aspects. Finally, our research results make us possible to generate some policies on how to improve the competitiveness of agricultural leading enterprises in our country in the future.
