Analysis Of Relationship Between Industry Cluster And International Competitiveness Base On China's Textile And Garment Industry

Textile and garment industry has been the pillar industry of China for a long history. For years, it has been playing an important role in meeting the needs of domestic consumption, employment, solutions to the problems concerning agriculture, rural areas, and peasants, and in balancing foreign exchange. Meanwhile, China's textile and garment industry enjoys mighty comparative advantage in the international market. Therefore, the development of textile industry has a direct bearing on national stability and economic sustainability.In the year 2005, the United States and EU comprehensively canceled quotas on Chinese textile imports, Chinese textile and garment exportation enjoys more freedom. In view of such situation, developed countries proposed various type of new restrictive measures against the importation of Chinese textile and garment. The frequent trade frictions coupled with the declined rate of exportation tax reimbursement and revaluation of RMB, caused an complex situation for the development of China's textile and garment industry. Face to the challenges, how to maintain the competitive advantages of China's textile and garment industry becomes an issue requiring urgent solution. Industrial cluster as an important way to break through the problem begin to receive extensive attention. On this case, empirical analysis on the relationship between Chinese textile and garment industry cluster and international competitiveness have important significance. This study is thus launched.The article analysis the relationship between industry cluster and international competitiveness as well as generate the evolution of both theories, on base of which the paper process qualitative and quantitative analysis on textile and garment industry clusters of China. Firstly, the author identify the textile and garment cluster in China, summed them up according to their features and lay out the weakness of China's textile and garment clusters at present. Then, with using of indicators such as RCA, TC and entropy index on China's major provinces and cities where textile and garment industry gathers, I do a quantitative analysis of the role of textile and garment industry cluster on promoting the industry international competitiveness, which help me confirm the positive compact of industry cluster cast on international competitiveness and find the problems with textile and garment clusters of our country. At last, the author gives suggestions to enhance the textile and garment industry's international competitiveness of China by develop its industry clusters.
