The China Mobile metropolitan area transmission network which is responsible for providing transmission channel to all kind of mobile service network and supporting network is the public transmission platform for service network and supporting network. The transmission network supports voice service and data service, especially emerging service and circuits for rent such as IP service. The transmission network is the whole telecommunication foundation as the carrier of all kinds of service network. Metropolitan area transmission is the most complicated part of the whole transmission network. It should not only concern about the transmission length and the bandwidth of transmission business, but also the uncertainty of business flow and the access which is applied to any kind of business. So, a systematical study on the technology application and the network development prospect is of extreme importance to the development of telecommunication network.Firstly, based on current construction situition of the metropolitan area transmission, associated with domestic and foreign planning experience with transmission network, the planning, construction and update scheme and direction policy are designed and decided. In chapter 3, it makes the thinking of core transmission network clear. The core node can be divided into integrated services Transit Node and pure Transit Node. For meeting the requirement of business development and network evolution, the network structure should be made more clear, high efficiency, flexibility, safe and reliable, easy to maintain and manage. core layer destination network should be a mash network physically and logically. Between two rings of core layer should use the double nodes interconnection, which will make sure that when a single-node breakdown, the two links still can work which guarantees the safety of network. The core node, by using 0Gb/s SDH MSTP expanded stander of equipment or external stores 2.5Gb/s ADM equipment to realize the grooming of massive 2Mb/s circuit, through MSTP equipment's GE, FE, POS and fiber Direct-Attached to connect the data service between core router and switch. switch. The thinking of Distribution Layer transport network s networking is clear:Distribution Layer mainly works on constructing 2.5Gb/s SDH ring network and gathering or unblocking the services in a certain field. Every Distribution ring should go through two core nodes. Balance between network coverage and ring network efficiency, as well as the organization of transport network must be comprehensively considered. The thinking of transport network's networking is clear: Access layer transport equipment has the multi-service turning on ability and good expansibility, and multi-service protection ability as well.Through prediction for the development of Dalian Mobile wireless network, mobile data valued service and wire data service, the capacity demand of transmission network is caculated and predicted. Then the network frame of metropolitan area multi-service transmission platform is designed. Also the construction policy and choice policy of transmission equipments are determinated.After analyzing and comparing MSTP, RPR, CWDM and metropolitan area DWDM technology in detail, it is considered that the four Metropolitan optical transport network technology has deferent features and application scope. So, all branches of The China Mobile should take the start points on their own business development and transmission resource. As a result, the right technology which can be updated in the future is selected to applied on the metropolitan area transmission platform to implement the existing and future multi-service transmission.The modes of service carried in different layers are anlysized. Aiming at now and future kinds of accessing modes and different service carried, reasonably designed the core layer: the MSTP based on SDH technology-based, with the future development of 3G and data services, the technology of Metropolitan Area WDM ring network could be used in some city centre where data traffic and particles is larger and fiber resources is scarcity; Distribution Layer: the MSTP based on SDH technology-based, with the future development of 3G and data services, could be considered to use the technology of CWDM and RPR in some urban area where need massive data services; and network layer interface: the MSTP based on SDH technology-based, Multi-Broadband Wireless Access technology could be used in those regions where the fiber and other resources can not cover.Optical network is being developed fast to meet the demand of market,new service and telecommunicaiton operators. Through prediction for the development of Dalian Mobile wireless network, mobile data valued service and wire data service, the capacity demand of transmission network is caculated and predicted. In the evolution of next generation optical network, the optical network works not only as a service carrier also is developing to a service provider and at last grows to an important service platform.
