Dairy Cattle Raising Zone (DCRZ) is a transition way during the transformation of animal husbandry from household-raising to concentrated production in our country, which is very important for the concentrated and industrialized production of dairy cattle nowadays, it is expected to be a leading dairy cattle production way in the near future. Both the development speed and the production scale of DCRZ will significantly influence the development of dairy cattle production and local economy. DCRZ is newly developed, the variations in local economy, production scales, production efficiencies and technologies will pose challenges to the development of DCRZ, all these are important factors that should be considered and incorporated into DCRZ. Currently, the development of DCRZ is adversely affected by inappropriate programming, quantity-seeking purpose and rapidly-expanded construction.This study compared all the production modes of the DCRZ in northern China on the base of literature collection and field investigation, and optimized the production mode for the DCRZ in northern China, including programming principles, design requirements, the layout, cattle houses and thermal environments for DCRZ, and used the Hongsheng Dairy Cattle Raising Zone of Beijing as an example to evaluate the environmental status of dairy cattle during summer, proposed effective and integrated technologies based on the optimized production mode, which would be helpful to improve the efficiency of dairy cattle production.The optimized production mode for DCRZ will provide a technology reference for the development for DCRZ in northern China, which will facilitate the sustainable and healthy development of dairy cattle husbandry in our country.
