The SWOT Analysis Of Developing Status And Countermeasures Of Chinese Medicinal Herbs Resources In Guangxi

There were plentiful germplasm resources of Chinese medicinal herbs in Guangxi, and the number of their species was about 4623, which was at the second position in China, just behind Yunnan province. In this paper, the distribution and exploitation status of Guangxi Chinese medicinal herbs resources were analyzed by using survey research method and the SWOT analysis method. The resources development and utilization of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of Guangxi Chinese herbal medicine were also analyzed. The main results were as follows:The advantages of Chinese herbal medicine development and utilization in Guangxi were: the advantage of the wild resource , the advantage of scale cultivation, the advantage of industrial parks, the advantage of absolute amount, the advantage of unique species, the advantage of the relative quality, the advantage of imports and the advantage of medicine raw material utilization. The main problems of Guangxi Chinese herbal medicine development and utilization were: lack of the systematic management of Chinese herbal medicine raw materials resources and big-scale production; contradictions between protection and utilization of the resources; ineffective production because of lacking of information; lack of large-scale industrial production infrastructure; lack of market competitiveness because of outdated technology; no advantage in traditional famous-region drug; Weakness in Chinese herbal medicine companies; lack of long-term perspective; weak R&D capacities and lack of R&D investment etc. The opportunities were: the healthy industry would become "the fifth wave of wealth" and the market prospect would be broad; the Guangxi Chinese medicine international trade could be expanded with the aid of the ASEAN platform; establishment of the Beibu Gulf Rim Economic Development Zone provided a rare development opportunity; The Chinese herbal medicine development and utilization conformed to the industrial structure adjustment of the government and to the requirements of increasing income of farmers. The main threats of the Guangxi Chinese medicine development and utilization were the competition in the target markets outside province and the competition of "the foreign Chinese medicine".In this paper, some goals, ideas and strategies were proposed according to SWOT analysis to exploit Chinese herbal medicine resources rationally and effectively in Guangxi. They were: Strengthening the resource management and carrying on the scientific planning; Strengthening the studies on germplasm resource to select and use good germplasm; Adjusting the production layout rationally according to local condition, and constructing Chinese medicine material industry bases; Strengthening the standard system in construction of Chinese medicine to ensure "safe, efficient and stable producing in medicinal materials" and to extend the industrial chain ; Cultivating the market, strengthening the circulation, and increasing the value transformation; Making full use of advantages, selecting "export-oriented" model, and developing vigorously the products competitive in export; Accelerating the development and application of advanced technologies, and promoting the progress of Chinese medicine material industry; Developing high-tech industry in Chinese medicine raw material vigorously, and creating the famous "Guangxi medicine" brand; Cultivating Chinese herbs based leading enterprise, improving the well-knowness and influence of Chinese herbal medicine.
