Research On The Status Quo And Countermeasures Of China's Export Food Safety After Entering Into The WTO

Food safety is related directly to human survival and development. The issue of food safety is increasingly concerned by the international communities, which has become an important factor in the international trades. After entering into the WTO, especially on the background of China hosting the 2008 Olympic Games, China is always looked at attentively by the whole world and the food safety is raised to an unprecedented level. Our exports of agricultural products and foods face more severe challenges. Particularly, the frequent occurrence of food safety incidents caused serious negative influence to the foreign trade, which has become the key factor in hindering the food exports.The paper summarizes the food safety code under the framework of the WTO and the research development inside and outside of the country. The paper analyzes the present situation of export food safety of our country and analyzes the main factors of the export food safety: on the one hand, because of the low level of our technology and production conditions as well as the inadequate laws and regulations, there is a gap between the food safety standard and the international standard; on the other hand, this is a result that foreign countries set up technical barriers. The author who has been engaged in the import and export of food inspection makes some countermeasure suggestions to improve the safety management of export food of our country from the author's working experience of the inspection and quarantine of export food safety, which includes making the system of food safety standard and relative laws and codes more perfect, enhancing government regulation, as well as changing the inspection and supervision mode and so on. In that case our export food safety will be ensured.
