The island was described as a"bridgehead"toward the ocean and a"Island Bridge"to the inland. The island has become eco-tourism hot-spot areas in the world nowadays and been favored by tourists since it holds a unique geographical position and possesses rich eco-tourism resources. However, eco-tourism resources on the islands are threatened seriously and many resources are degradating and depleting by unreasonable exploitation and frequent natural disasters. The destruction of eco-tourism resources impeded the eco-tourism activities. It is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the characteristics and value, the ecological and environmental stress, the stress of eco-tourism resources on the islands and its driving factors, and to put forward a coordinated solution to ensure normal function of eco-tourism resources services and eco-tourism sustainable development on island areas. In view of this, we studied the sustainable utilization countermeasures of eco-tourism resources on Meizhou Island on the basis of theory of eco-tourism resources sustainable use on island. Main results and conclusions are:(1) Based on the analysis of the features of eco-tourism resources on islands, this paper studied the driving factors of ecological and environmental stress from the island's fragile ecosystem, the excessive consumption of eco-tourism resources, and the pressure of the ecology and environment destruction on island. It provides an important guiding and practical value in coordinately solving the current stress on island.(2) From the view of sustainable development, we put forward that the aim is to build a harmonious and ecological island, the exploitation guiding ideology is ecological civilization, and the development principles is government-oriented with local residents participation, strengthening ecological education and propaganda, development in the protection and according to the law, maintainenace the original nature of tourism resources. Combined with the study on the pressure and response state of eco-tourism resources on island, we concluded that to achieve sustainable use we must pay great attention to the planning management and take planning as the rigid constraints of eco-tourism resources during the exploitation on island; we must strengthen the study of eco-tourism resources and speed up the implementation of the island's ecological recovery project; we must further establish perfect law regulations and make sure the regulation function of law and protect resources and environment. Basing on the theoretical study, we put forward several specific coordination measures to eliminate the ecological and environmental stress on eco-tourism resources of islands. It provides valuable technical support to the tourism resources development on islands.(3)The present study took Meizhou Island in Putian City as a case study. We in-depth analysed the natural tourism resources and the human tourism resources status of Meizhou Island, including seawater, sand beaches, wetlands, vegetation and marine eroding geomorphology etc. We studied the ecological and environmental stress on eco-tourism resources of islands, the problem of unreasonable exploitation and utilization. Then we put forward all kinds of coordination measures and strategies, so that ecological service function could play a better role in economic development on Meizhou Island, and pointedout that the development of human tourism resources should be consistent with natural tourism resources, to fully excavate the connotation of Mazu culture, so that all eco-tourism resources can persist in the Meizhou Island. Then it is of great practical significance to realize the unity of economic, social, ecological and environmental benefits.
