| With a view to the medium and small cities in the Metropolitan Coordinating Region, this thesis explores the coordinated development of these cities in the area. The main content includes the following two points: first, the studying work about the development of the medium and small cities in the Metropolitan Coordinating Region while they are impacted by the nuclear city. Second, the studying works about the coordinated development between these medium and small cities themselves.This thesis consists of the following six chapters. Chapter one is the introduction, it consists of the background,the significance,the content and the methods of the research. Chapter two is the review of Metropolitan Coordinating Region,coordinated development of regions and the development of medium and small cities, and the related conceptions are also demonstrated in this chapter. Chapter three analyzes the niche theory, and draws some useful conclusions to the development of the medium and small cities in the Metropolitan Coordinating Region as well as to the coordinated development between these cities themselves. Chapter four first explores the development issues of the disadvantaged medium and small cities in the Metropolitan Coordinating Region when they are impacted by the nuclear city and the superior governments, and then introduces the actuality of the coordinated development in the Metropolitan Coordinating Regions in China, and in the last part explores the strategy of the coordinated development between the medium and small cities themselves based on the niche theory. Chapter five takes the example of JiaoCheng in the TaiYuan Metropolitan Coordinating Region, which is located in ShanXi province. First the thesis introduces the basic situation in JiaoCheng, and then demonstrates the relationship between JiaoCheng and TaiYuan as well as JiaoCheng and other medium and small cities in TaiYuan Metropolitan Coordinating Region, in the end, the strategy of coordinated development between the medium and small cities in TaiYuan Metropolitan Coordinating Region is proposed. The last part of the thesis is the conclusion. The conclusions consist of the following three points:First, the coordinated development between the medium and small cities themselves in the Metropolitan Coordinating Region is inevitable. In the new century, due to the increasing competition and specialization, the medium and small cities must coorperate. To maximize each city's interest, the medium and small cities in the Metropolitan Coordinating Region have to choose coordinated development with each other.Second, impacted by the nuclear city and/or superior governments, to decrease the disadvantaged influence and to increase the advantages in the development, the medium and small cities in the Metropolitan Coordinating Region could adopt the following strategies such as the coordinated development with the superior governments, accurate orientation, potential niche choice, the advance of city niche and the renovation technological, etc.Third, to reach the coordinated development between the medium and small cities themselves in the Metropolitan Coordinating Region, they could adopt the following strategies such as the variety of niche competition,the niche expansion,the reciprocity and symbiosis and the selective variation. The principal part of coordinated development includes three aspects: the government,the market and the society. The content of coordinated development includes the system construction,the regionally industrial division,the regional infrastructure construction,the regional environment protection and the regional tourism cooperation, etc. |
