Successful hotel operations in different places depend to a great extent on capable expatriate managers. However, expatriate failure would cause much damage to hotel companies. Some studies have revealed that expatriate hotel manager satisfaction and turnover intention are closely related. A sample of 62 expatriate hotel managers of Chinese hotel companies was asked to respond to a questionnaire designed to reveal the levels of their job satisfaction, work stress, family relationship and cross-cultural adjustment in this study. Meanwhile, the Factor analysis and the Regression analysis are used in this study to examine the relationship among job satisfaction, work stress, family relationship and cross-cultural adjustment. It reveals that family relationship is the most job satisfaction factor, followed by work stress and cross-cultural adjustment. Furthermore, while the effect of family relationship as well as cross-cultural adjustment on job satisfaction is significantly positive, the effect of work stress on job satisfaction is significantly negative. The results of this study may help Chinese hotel companies to improve their expatriate management.
