Study On Environmental Sign Design In The Context Of Chinese Traditional Culture

With the progress of the society, development of science and technology and the frequent cultural exchanges between countries, the loss of traditional culture is becoming increasingly serious. Therefore, the construction of the traditional humanistic spirit environment in modern city becomes the bright spot which is the continuation of environmental context and makes the environment more vital.In addition to play "instruction" and other practical functions, sign, as the information infrastructure of environment, is the essential landscape element and decoration. It not only undertakes the construction of environmental information, displays traditional culture and conveys tourism information, but also should pay more attention to the expression of environmental and cultural characteristics. So from the angle of " the context of Chinese traditional cultural", and integrated theory with project practice, the paper discussed about the current task mentioned above systemically.The paper consists of six chapters:The first chapter brought forth the question of the sign design in the context of Chinese traditional cultural; ascertained research aim and meaning; recited relative research and established research frame.The second chapter offered basic theory of Chinese traditional cultural, environmental sign as well as the topic involving, and gave basic theory for further discussion.The third chapter studied deeply on principles of application of traditional cultural in sign design. Applying methods of it were also researched, with the example of the public sign in the square of the Big Goose Pagoda.The fourth chapter based on project practice. It brought up the concept of environmental sign design under the guide of Landscape Planning and Design of Louguan. Taoist hot spring. The fifth chapter was for design applying. Integrated with principles, methods and analysis above, it gave design projects for the various sign in Louguan. Taoist hot spring and based on consideration of functional, cultural, artistic and engineering aspects to ensure the feasibility of the projects, with the hope of setting up the methods and ideas for using the national traditional culture to environmental sign design.The last chapter summed up the principle, strategy and method.
